The Santa Cruz SPCA is a private non-profit with limited space, we rescue our adoptable animals from other shelters that are at capacity.  Private parties needing to place an animal for adoption that can keep it until a new family comes along send us the animal's photograph and information, which we post here as a service to help the animal find a home before needing to go to the shelter.  The SPCA assumes no responsibility for these listings, and has no further information beyond what is provided with the description of the animal.  We require all dogs and cats be spayed/neutered and advise the family to ask for a reasonable adoption fee to avoid unwanted outcomes for the animal.

Max

Neutered Male

5-6 Years Old

Beagle

Max is a wonderful friend. He is a people dog and would like nothing more than to be your fulltime companion. He is trained to use a doggy door. Max is good with all ages of people. He gets along well with other dogs, but he prefers people. If you are looking for a companion who will love you above all, Max will be your best friend.

For an appointment to meet Max, please call Greg @ (831) 438-0917.  Leave a message if we miss your call.

Coco

Standard French Poodle

Neutered Male

9.5-years-old

Coco needs a new, loving home with someone able to walk him daily, throw tennis balls, and run free.  He's active and in very good health. He's sweet & loving, well mannered, gentle & a bit spoiled.  He's completed two obedience training classes and worked with a private trainer.  He does well in doggie daycare with other dogs.  He's good with adults and children, but doesn't like skateboards or roller blades.  He needs to be groomed every 4-6 weeks, but doesn't shed.  He has a minor eye problem that requires over-the-counter antihistimine drops 2x/day (Zaditor).  We also give him Glucosamine daily as a preventative measure for arthritis.

Lucy

Domestic Short Hair

Spayed Female

6-years-old

Great cat for us.  Indoor only cat and has been a loving companion.  Not good with children and we have grandchildren. We would like a loving home for her.  Lucy is a "watch cat" and very alert.  She has never missed her litter box.  Low maintenance with dry food and water. Best in a home with no other animals.

For more information on Lucy, please call (650) 787-5020 (831) 338-7643

Devo

Domestic Short Hair

Spayed Female

11-years-old

Devo is an awesome cat, very friendly, smart, well behaved.  Unfortunately I've become allergic to her which has become worse over the years.  I was determined to keep her but am faced with the reality that this is no longer an option.  I would love to find her a new home as I can't bear the thought of her in a shelter and wondering what happened.  I love Devo dearly but can't live like this any longer.

Maurice is a big lap cat. He belonged to my partner's 82-year -old mom who can no longer take care of him. We have him temporarily , but we already have a multi-cat household, so we need to find him a home with no (or at least fewer) cats. He's Mr. Keat's birth brother (listed below) and may be adopted with Keats or separately. He's indoor only.
